The liu ye dan dao (translated as willow leaf sabre) is one of the most classic weapons in Chinese martial arts, making up one of the four basic weapons in traditional kung fu practise. While many different types of dan dao exist, the dan dao is universally characterized as a tiger; powerful but quick and ferocious.
 Having a single edge and shorter than two-handed weapons (without losing two-handed utility for extra power), the dao can be used effectively at a very close range. True display of dan dao skill should be quick and fierce but still graceful and controlled.
The liu ye dan dao made by Enlightenment has been hand forged from 1075 high carbon steel, differentially heat treated for optimal edge hardness and superb flexibility. There is a faint but noticeable temper-line; the result of the edge hardening process, making this sword suitable for cutting practise.
This unique dan dao has been shaped into a unique diamond-shaped blade (similar to a jian) to reduce the weight of the blade and make it a much faster sword with better control.
The Enlightenment stamp has been engraved on one side of the blade, our stamp of quality approval.
This sabre has a full length tang (inserted into the handle while still hot, branding itself into the wood) with a pin securing the handle and tang together for maximum support. Finishing with the tradtional Chinese sword knots wrapping
The scabbard and handle of the sabre have been made from paudak wood, favoured for its sturdiness and beautiful wood grains.
