Kun Wu was originally the name of a sword in the Chou dynasty (1050-256 BC), thought to be one of the best swords in Chinese history. According to legend, this jian could cut through jade like mud. Later on, Kun Wu jian became a famous sword style, difficult to master but well known for it’s swift and graceful movements.
The Kun Wu jian as pictured is truly a unique piece; the dimensions of the blade and shape of the hand-guard are accurately based on dimensions from old manuals and crafted exclusively for Enlightenment Crafts by the best of our sword masters.

Hand forged from 1075 high carbon steel the differential
heat-treated. This Kun Wu has superior edge than most
of normal carbon steel blade. The perfected balance
allows this blade become fast and powerful.
The distinctively shaped hand-guard was designed to
deflect the oncoming enemy’s blade and allow the
swordsman to counter-attack with fierce alacrity, minimizing
any chance of the blade locking onto the hand-guard.
The fittings, hand-guard and pommel are all moulded
from solid aged brass, presenting superior lifetime strength and vintage feeling
Sharpened in the traditional three-sectional Chinese
fashion (razor sharp at the tip with the sharpness declining
toward the hilt), The true and final signature of the
sword’s craftsmanship is audible when the sword
is drawn, singing a high-pitched ring.
With it’s distinguished vintage feel, the Kun Wu jian would make a remarkable gift and addition to any serious collection, while having the perfect balance, weight and ‘feeling’ for any slow or fast sword practise.
The solid antique brass fittings are all moulded from single pieces and have been set into a sturdy padauk wood scabbard and handle, with a pin inserted through the full tang for extra support. This Kun Wu jian has an excellent balance for practical training purposes, while still beautiful as a display piece and as a gift.
