(Please Click on different parts of the Jian for a more detailed look on the parts) As said in old Chinese Martial Art saying: "The
way to use Dao shoud be fierce like a tiger, while the
way to use Jian should moves agilely like a flying phoenix".
The design of our Flying Phoenix jian surly reflects
the above concept, not just only its aesthetics looking
but also the practial reasons behind its design.
Apart from the elaborately made fittings on this masterpiece,
the unique design of upward stretching handguard incarnates
the image of phoenix flying wings and tails, and the
pratical reason behind such design is to provide better
protection for the owner's hand. Another fuction of
this style of handguard, according to traditional "Wu
Dang Jian" principles, can be used for locking
enemy's blade and therefore injure enemy's weapon hand
by twisting the sword.
The smoothly curved base of this unique shaped handguard
also allows owner to freely interchange between the
different grabs and fingers positions with comfortable
handling, and therefore enhance the flow and speed between
each move.
This Flying Phoenix Jian is hand forged from 1095
high carbon steel (one of the best quality steel)
water quenched
and clay tempered for the best strength, evidenced by
the beautiful nature temperline which distinguishes
the blade and edge. Carefully hand sharpened and
twelve times hand polished.
All the fittings of this Flying Phoenix Jian have been
arduously made using the highly sophisticated lost
wax method, which involves casting using 6
moulds, each time furthering the detail of the cast
by hand carving.
The binding on the handle is one of the most traditional
Chinese "sword knots" which is weaved by a
single string only, and can last for many years handling.
This Flying Phoenix Jian is available by custom made.
You may choose the size, blade type (1095
high carbon steel OR damascus
insert blade) as well as the wood
for the scabbard to suit your needs.
