(Please Click on different parts of the Jian for a more detailed look on the parts)
This classic jian was originally designed for the Qian Long Emperor and his family in the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). This jian and its fighting style became very famous in China, both for its beauty and proven effectiveness in battle. It is this sort of jian that was often associated with prestige and high rank and often decorated many powerful people in the history of China.

This qian long jian has been forged into the traditional diamond shaped blade from high quality carbon steel, hand forged, differentially heat treated and quenched for superior edge hardness and resilience. The Enlightenment trademark stamp is on one side of the blade (engraved during forging), our mark of quality approval.
Elaborate dragon-faced fittings moulded from a brass alloy have been mounted on the sword and scabbard. An ancient dragon design is also engraved onto one side of the blade; in Chinese mythology, the dragon was associated with good luck and protection.
The scabbard and handle are made from paudak wood with a full length tang which is inserted into the handle while still hot, branding itself into the wood. A hole has been punched through and a bamboo pin secures the handle and tang together for maximum support.
With its traditional qualities, the Qian Long jian is a classic piece, culturally significant both as a gift or ornament. It has been sharpened in the traditional Chinese manner(see sharpness) and properly weighted for fast or slow training, excellently balanced, perfect for single or double hand martial arts practise.
